About the Presenters

Susan G. Bornstein, MD, MPH
Founder and CEO, The Asclepius Initiative
Susan G. Bornstein, MD, MPH, is an OBGYN by training. She became so frustrated with the issues that her patients were having with cost and access to care that in 2017, she returned to school for a master’s in public health in order to become a more credible advocate on her patients’ behalf. Susan has a comprehensive understanding of the health care delivery system, having cared for patients across a variety of practice settings, including running a solo office for nearly 20 years. She has negotiated and tussled with insurance companies as an employer, a provider, and a patient, and is well aware of how frustrating, expensive, inefficient, and inequitable this process is.  In 2021, Susan founded The Asclepius Initiative, a non-profit whose mission is to provide education and build support for a health care financing system that would leave no one behind. She currently serves as CEO.
