The Asclepius Initiative’s October 2025 newsletter takes a closer look at how rising health care costs are affecting Kentuckians and what that means for the year ahead.
Health care already costs a lot, and for many Kentuckians, it’s about to cost more. Unless Congress acts, the enhanced premium tax credits that help people afford Marketplace insurance will end after 2025. Without them, premiums could more than double, hitting middle-income families the hardest.
Through interviews across the state, Kentuckians told us they already struggle to afford care, even with insurance. Many shared stories of putting off doctor visits, skipping needed tests, or driving hours to reach a specialist. For some, the burden isn’t just financial—it’s emotional and physical, as untreated conditions worsen over time.
At The Asclepius Initiative, we believe health care should be a right, not a luxury. Our mission is to make coverage stable, affordable, and accessible for everyone, from birth until death.
