Health care in Kentucky is in crisis… not because people don’t have insurance, but because even with coverage, too many still can’t get the care they need. In 2024, The Asclepius Initiative surveyed Kentuckians and found that more than half of those with insurance delayed or skipped care because of cost. Nearly nine out of ten uninsured Kentuckians did the same. And in conversations with people across the Commonwealth, we heard stories of long waits, transportation struggles, financial strain, and the painful reality that, as many people told us, “If it’s not an emergency, you don’t go.”
At The Asclepius Initiative, we believe health care is a human right. Our mission is to build understanding and support for a universal health care system, one where care is secure, affordable, and available to everyone, from birth until death.
