June 2026 Newsletter

The Asclepius Initiative’s June 2026 newsletter focuses on rising health care costs, falling Marketplace enrollment, and why coverage is becoming harder for many people to keep and use.

New data from KFF show that 23.1 million people selected Marketplace plans for 2026, down by more than one million from 2025. Enrollment fell in 41 states, including Kentucky, where just over 89,000 people signed up through kynect. At the same time, average monthly premium payments increased 58%, and more people are choosing Bronze plans with lower monthly premiums but higher deductibles. These trends raise serious concerns about whether people can afford to stay covered and whether they can afford to use their coverage when they need care.

This month’s newsletter also highlights TAI’s partnership with One Nation, Overcharged, a national campaign calling attention to the health care cost crisis and the need for a system that puts people’s health ahead of corporate profits. In addition, we feature TAI’s updated video library, which now includes nearly two dozen new and revised animated videos and webinar recordings on health care coverage topics such as Marketplace coverage, Medicaid, Medicare, employer-sponsored coverage, comparing plans, medical bills, and coverage loss.

At The Asclepius Initiative, we remain committed to providing clear, factual information about how health care coverage works today, while continuing to build support for a system where high-quality, affordable health care is available to everyone from birth until death.
